What are the responsibilities and job description for the Eastern Shore Pet Resort Attendant position at Brandywine Valley SPCA?
At Eastern Shore Pet Resort, we offer luxury dog and cat boarding and doggie daycare services. We provide an unmatched, quality experience for pets and their parents every day of the year. Slated to open in early 2019 in Georgetown, Delaware, ESPR will provide safe daycare, crate-free, low-stress doggie boarding in premier suites with trained staff and access to 24-hour veterinary staff.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Customer Service
- All BVSPCA employees are responsible for providing excellent customer service to customers, animals, fellow staff, donor and all persons a BVSPCA staff member comes into contact with when working.
- Promote the BVSPCA in a positive manner.
- Communicate with others with respect.
- Create a positive work environment by limiting negativity.
- Be efficient, a team player, positive and proactive in problem solving.
Animal Care
- Supervise and manage the daycare play groups to ensure the safety of all pets Maintain the cleanliness of the guest suites and facilities
- Provide written and verbal reports to pet parents and ESPR staff
- Bathing of pets as needed or requested
- Prior experience in animal care (professionally) and customer service is preferred
- Training will be provided on how to understand dog body language, and recognize and encourage appropriate play

QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school education or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to multitask under high-pressure situations.
- Work in loud environments on hard surfaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in a shelter setting
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time.
- Regular sitting at a computer workstation 2-4 hours per day to input data.
- Subject to animal bites and scratches while handling animals.
- Repeated lifting and carrying of animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Consistent exposure to animals and animal allergens under conditions with limited alternatives available.
Pay: From $15.50 per hour
