Brandon Bird Utilities Construction is seeking a qualified Hydrovac Driver to support underground utility and excavation operations in Lubbock, Texas and surrounding West Texas communities.
This role is responsible for safely operating hydrovac equipment to perform non-destructive excavation in support of gas distribution and utility construction projects. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically aware, and experienced in operating CDL-required commercial vehicles.
Position Overview
This position involves operating hydrovac equipment to safely expose underground utilities in support of construction and maintenance projects. You will work closely with field crews to perform non-destructive excavation, protect existing infrastructure, and maintain safe job site operations.
We are looking for someone who understands commercial vehicle responsibility, values safety, and works well in a field-driven construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate hydrovac and vacuum excavation equipment
- Perform non-destructive excavation around underground utilities
- Work within designated tolerance zones and follow utility locate requirements
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain equipment in safe and operational condition
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards
- Coordinate with crew members to support daily production goals
- Maintain accurate documentation and inspection records
- Keep equipment and job sites clean and professional
Qualifications
- Valid CDL (Class A or B) required
- Active Tanker Endorsement required
- Minimum of 1 year of hydrovac or vacuum excavation operating experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of commercial CDL driving experience
- Ability to meet company insurance requirements
- Strong understanding of safe excavation practices around underground utilities
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment inspections
- Professional attitude and ability to work as part of a field crew
