What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Branding 2?
Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Pre-cert and schedule surgeries and procedures
- Pre-cert and schedule tests/imaging/physical therapy
- Prepare surgery forms and packets
- Schedule referral appointments to other physicians or surgery clearances as needed
- Assist with patient questions, telephone calls and messages and document in chart
- Schedule diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, US, etc.) and obtain insurance authorization
- Bring patients to exam room, triage, order necessary x-rays, prepare for physician or APP to see
- Perform wound care/dressing changes as needed
- Drawing up injections as needed
- Call in or escribe medications as needed
- Application of sterile fields and wound care as needed
- Applying splints, casts and fitting of orthotics as needed
- Locate any necessary test results, and/or reports
- Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, as needed
- Prepare charts for clinic and print out all pertinent patient information
- Access various imaging systems as well as
- Fill out return-to-work forms (FMLA/STD) as needed as well as work restriction forms
- Check-out patients and schedule follow up appointments
- Collect co-pays, outstanding balances or surgery deductibles
- Communicate with patients and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner
- Travel to satellite offices as needed with Physician or APP
Must also possess:
- HS diploma or GED required
- ROT or CCMA required by first 90 days of employment
- Orthopedic experience a plus
- Clinical experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in very busy clinical setting
- Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
- Independent and highly motivated
- Exhibit initiative and self-discipline
- Proven positive, “teamwork” attitude and work history
- Experience with surgical patients preferred
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to use arms, hands, and fingers skillfully
- Constant standing and walking and sitting for long periods of time
- Must be agile and able to work efficiently in space limited areas
- Consistently work at a productive pace
- Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
