Kentucky Medication Aide

Duties

• Administer prescribed medications accurately following state regulations and facility policies, including oral, topical, and topical medications.
• Assist residents with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support to promote independence and dignity.
• Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings promptly to nursing staff.
• Maintain detailed and compliant medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support residents with specialized care needs including Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, hospice, and tube feeding procedures.
• Follow all HIPAA guidelines to maintain resident confidentiality and uphold privacy standards at all times.
• Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to ensure comprehensive resident care and communication.

Skills

• Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments with a focus on senior or geriatric care.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration protocols.
• Skilled in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner; experience with EHR systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols.
• Certification in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and basic life support (BLS).
• Strong communication skills for caregiver interactions and resident engagement; compassionate caregiving approach required.
• Understanding of state healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and resident rights.
• Experience working with geriatric patients in senior living or senior care settings; knowledge of memory care techniques is a plus.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
