Reporting to the Brand K Partners Director, the Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for performing detailed accounting work and financial transactions as well as transitioning to higher level financial work and team management. The Accounting Supervisor will be working closely with the Director in capturing current and accurate financial information. This job is remote but candidates located near our North Haledon Office are welcome to meet with our team in person and travel within the New York/New Jersey region.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
§ Process and/or manage payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
§ Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable are current (less than 90 days)
§ Reconcile bank and credit card statements
§ Review and post investment accounts
§ Review all uncleared checks and deposits for items over 120 days
§ Analyze and prepare financial statements on a monthly basis for the Accounting Manager’s/Director’s review
§ Review the monthly financial statements prior to submitting to clients
§ Effectively analyze, communicate and present financial statements to the client's Executive Team and/or Board of Directors on a monthly basis
§ Prepare annual client budgets and present to the Executive Team and/or Board
§ Assist with audit schedules and documentation to ensure timely completion
§ Manage annual audits and ensure all required schedules are completed timely
§ Perform Quality Control prior to audit submission
§ Assist Managers/Directors in budget preparation
§ Assist in tracking restricted funds
§ Monitor restricted grants and forecast spending to ensure compliance with funding organizations
§ Assist with client transactional entries
§ Assist clients with the preparation of the Form 990, and other benefit, tax and regulatory schedules
§ Prepare 1099’s on behalf of clients
§ Maintain on-going contact with clients to ensure quality customer service engagement and active monitoring of project work and deadlines
§ Attend Finance Committee meetings and/or Board Meeting upon request
§ Troubleshoot all issues with clients in a timely manner
§ Provide training, supervision and direction to Accountant supporting assigned clients
EDUCATION | SKILL REQUIREMENTS
§ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
§ Knowledge of nonprofit accounting required
§ Experience in a multi-client service role
§ Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
§ Computer literacy with intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
