Lead Technology Trainer – Contract Position

Contract Length: 6 months with the possibility of extending based on performance.
**Colonial Heights, VA candidates ONLY required.

Hybrid – 3 days a week onsite

Position Objective/Purpose of Position

The Lead Technology Trainer provides instruction to improve the skill base of client’s staff and faculty by serving as the lead training technology consultant. The position provides basic and advanced technology training to staff and faculty based on the enterprise application products sponsored by the Information Technology Services division. These base products are identified within the client’s IT Portfolio. The position will assist the Academic Technology Business Manager in coaching and providing customized support to faculty across the disciplines in the area of academic technologies that promote student engagement, learning, efficiency, and success. A key aspect of the position’s duties involves creating on-demand sessions using multiple platforms, including Canvas. Responsibilities also include delivering workshops and other staff technology professional development opportunities that promote streamlined processes and success through the integration and use of appropriate technologies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Successfully Perform the Work.

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant certifications in corporate/client training
• Proven experience as an IT Trainer, Technical Trainer, or in a similar role
• Experience using LMS such as Canvas, Articulate, and Articulate products such as Storyline.
• Skilled in designing technical course materials for both on-demand and live training formats
• Conduct live training in-person, virtually, and individually
• Familiar with web-based learning platforms and modern instructional techniques
• Solid understanding of corporate computer security principles
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
• Create and administer curriculum in PowerPoint for technical concepts such as setting passwords, navigating MS Teams, etc.
• Good administrative skills, assisting clients, and responding to tickets.
• Develop programs and curriculum for new employees of the organization
• Develop programs and curriculum for employees of the organization for in-job training on enterprise software applications and hardware
• Develop and maintain the communication plan to inform the client community of training opportunities and new technologies
• Maintain and update the course information in the appropriate places
• Maintain a system of confirmation for successful completion of courses
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw logical, supportable conclusions
• Analyze the effectiveness of training and workshops for the employees and develop appropriate modifications if needed
• Prepare reports that highlight metrics needed
• Experience advising managers and employees on training and technology needs related to personal computing such as logging into systems, submitting a ticket, and intro to Copilot.
• Effective in delivering both formal and informal presentations for workshops
• Proficient in producing written materials using creative communication methods tailored to diverse audiences
