What are the responsibilities and job description for the FPGA Design Engineer - Market Data & Trading Systems position at Branch Tech?
FPGA Design Engineer – Market Data & Trading Systems
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Specialism: FPGA / SystemVerilog / HFT
Recruiter: Branch Tech Recruitment
About the opportunity
Branch Tech is connecting with FPGA Design Engineers across Chicago's proprietary trading and high-frequency trading ecosystem.
We're interested in engineers with hands-on experience developing, implementing and optimising FPGA-based systems where latency, throughput and reliability are critical.
This posting is intended to build our specialist FPGA talent network and does not represent a confirmed vacancy with a particular trading firm.
Technical areas of interest
- Developing production-quality RTL using SystemVerilog, Verilog or VHDL.
- FPGA market-data processing, packet decoding and feed handling.
- Hardware acceleration for order execution and trading infrastructure.
- Ultra-low-latency Ethernet networking and high-speed datapaths.
- FPGA verification, simulation and testbench development.
- Synthesis, place-and-route, static timing analysis and timing closure.
- Hardware debugging, performance optimisation and deployment.
- Python or C for testing, automation and hardware/software integration.
Experience we're looking for
We're particularly interested in candidates with commercial FPGA development experience and exposure to high-performance, latency-sensitive systems.
Previous experience within proprietary trading, market making, HFT or electronic trading is highly relevant.
However, engineers from networking, telecommunications, semiconductor or high-performance computing backgrounds are also encouraged to register their interest.
Branch Tech is developing a specialist network of FPGA engineers across the US trading market.
We want to understand your technical background, career ambitions and the types of engineering challenges that would make a future move worthwhile.
All conversations are confidential, and your profile will not be submitted to an employer without your permission.
