Principal Solutions Architect (Distributed Systems)

Bramkas Inc.
Denver, CO Contractor
POSTED ON 9/9/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/10/2026
We are seeking an exceptional Principal Solutions Architect who is a highly skilled, hands-on technical expert dedicated to designing, building, operating, and scaling robust, reliable, enterprise-scale software systems.
The ideal candidate is first and foremost a distributed systems master with a proven track record of handling high-concurrency, high-availability backends. While this role involves driving AI-enabled practices and agentic workflows, this is not an ML research or data science position—it requires a core software architect who can seamlessly integrate advanced technology into high-performance infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Delivery Ownership: Create optimal technical designs for complex distributed systems. Take end-to-end ownership of software delivery, guaranteeing alignment with approved designs, strict SLAs, and advanced technology stacks.
  • Documentation Excellence: Produce comprehensive system design documents, including logical designs with data flow, deployment architectures, High-Level Design (HLD), and Low-Level Design (LDD) addressing functional and non-functional requirements (security, scalability, performance, availability, reliability).
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, CxO leaders, and core engineering teams to align technical strategy with business goals.
  • Operational & Incident Management: Provide critical L3/L4 engineering support. Actively participate in production incident calls, triage complex system failures to achieve the shortest Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR), and architect long-term preventive solutions.
  • AI/Gen AI Integration: Architect and embed practical AI/Gen AI-based agentic workflows directly into high-scale distributed backend systems where appropriate to optimize functionality.
  • Driving AI-Enabled Practices: Establish and champion best practices for the engineering lifecycle, leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Mentorship & Technical Direction: Contribute to the organization’s overall technical vision. Act as a teacher and reviewer, providing technical guidance to engineers, domain experts, and individual contributors.
Required Qualifications & Skills (Must-Haves)
  • Distributed Systems Mastery: 5 years of experience designing and architecting high-concurrency distributed systems at internet or enterprise scale. Deep understanding of microservices architecture, fault tolerance, and high-availability patterns.
  • Extensive Hands-On Architecture: 15 years of total software engineering experience, including 6 years as a hands-on Technical/Solutions Architect creating HLDs and LLDs.
  • Core Programming Proficiency: Strong, recent hands-on coding experience in Java/Spring Boot or Golang for building backend infrastructure.
  • Full-Stack Ecosystem Management: Proven track record managing diverse, complex components including backend services, distributed caches, databases, messaging middleware (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Cloud Architecture: Strong expertise building scalable software in cloud (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform), on-premise, or hybrid environments using containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) and serverless technologies.
  • Data Modeling: Strong hands-on experience selecting, benchmarking, and designing data models for services across both RDBMS and NoSQL systems (document, graph, or column stores like Cassandra or DynamoDB).
  • AI Application Integration: 2 years of practical experience integrating AI Agentic solutions, LLMs, or cognitive services into production backend software architectures.
  • SDLC Fluency: Comprehensive understanding of all Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases, with a strong focus on post-production stability, observability, and performance tuning.
Highly Desirable (Added Advantages)
  • Experience working in a product-based, SaaS, or hyper-growth environment.
  • Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
  • Prior domain experience in Telecom BSS/OSS environments.
  • Familiarity with frontend applications, micro-frontends, MVVM design patterns, and component architecture (Mobile/Web).
