What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bulletin 4644 Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for the Braintree Public Schools position at Braintree Public School District?
Braintree Public School District is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and collaborative Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support the communication and language development of students with diverse learning and developmental needs. Working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA plays an essential role in delivering high-quality speech and language services that empower students to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities include:
- developing and implementing activities and materials for teaching and practice of skills to address the IEP goals of the students as directed by the supervising SLP;
- providing treatment through a variety of service delivery models (e.g., individual, group, classroom-based, co-treatment with other disciplines);
- documenting student progress towards IEP goals (e.g., collecting data and calculating percentages for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs)
- adjusting and documenting the amount and type of support or scaffolding provided to the student to facilitate progress;
- developing low-tech AAC materials for students, patients, and clients;
- programming augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices;
- providing training and technical assistance to students, staff, and families in the use of AAC devices
Licenses or Certification:
Current Massachusetts Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License in good standing, or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to the start of employment.
Experience:
- Experience working with children and adolescents with communication disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and/ or intellectual disabilities preferred;
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices preferred
