What are the responsibilities and job description for the Virtual Class Teacher position at Braintree Educational Services?
**Current hiring for primarily asynchronous courses with possible synchronous courses to be added, so daytime availability is required. This is a part-time position (approximately 5 hours a week unless synchronous courses are available) and may be combined with other positions for a maximum of 20 hours total**.
Virtual class teachers plan, prepare, and teach asynchronous or synchronous virtual core classes. They provide subject-based learning experiences based on pre-planned curriculum. They create an interactive and positive virtual learning environment for all learners.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Teachers adapt pre-planned curriculum as needed to best reach their students.
- They communicate class meetings and supplies needed to families in a timely manner and send out weekly updates through Schoology.
- Teachers maintain a virtual classroom in the Schoology LMS with additional activities and assessments.
- They monitor behavior in the class and check for students’ understanding. They help answer student questions and keep their students engaged.
- Teachers follow the digital citizenship guidelines for virtual classroom behavior.
- If student work is assigned, it will be graded based on Braintree grading expectations and timelines.
- Hours are dependent on the number of courses the teacher is responsible for each semester.
Qualifications:
- Teachers must be qualified for their subject through certification or experience. (Teaching license for specific grades or subjects assigned)
- Teachers must pass background checks and be able to work on zoom in a synchronous classroom with students.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form. Manual dexterity, ability to process information and make decisions.
