JOB DESCRIPTION
Role Summary
As a Core Architect (also known as an Observability Architect or Senior Solutions Architect), you will be the primary technical owner for a portfolio of Grafana Labs' most important enterprise customers. Your mission is to help customers design, implement, and scale observability solutions, guiding their journey to maturity with expert-level guidance on the Grafana platform.
Key responsibilities
- Technical partnership and guidance: Act as a trusted technical advisor, building strong, long-term relationships with engineers, SREs, and architects at key customer accounts.
- Solution architecture: Lead the technical discovery process and architect solutions that include Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir, Tempo, and other related technologies.
- Implementation and onboarding: Guide the implementation and onboarding of complex observability solutions, ensuring they are deeply embedded into the customer's mission-critical systems.
- Best practices and strategies: Advise clients on best practices for observability, helping them optimize their solutions for cost, scalability, and performance.
- Customer advocacy: Act as the "voice of the customer" internally at Grafana Labs, advocating for their needs and influencing the product roadmap based on direct customer feedback.
- Training and enablement: Conduct training sessions and workshops for customer teams to accelerate their adoption of Grafana technologies.
- Troubleshooting and support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and perform root cause analysis (RCA) to assist with customer issues.
- Strategic planning: Collaborate with clients to develop and execute technical roadmaps that align with their business goals.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Typically 5 years in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, or Consulting Engineer.
- Observability expertise: Deep knowledge of observability practices covering metrics, logs, and traces, with a strong preference for candidates experienced with the Grafana stack (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo).
- Kubernetes proficiency: Hands-on experience with deploying and operating Kubernetes.
- Cloud environments: Experience working with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure).
- Communication: Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative approach to tackling technical challenges.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with open-source technologies.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Helm or Tanka.
- Experience in a remote-first, globally distributed team.
