Job Summary:
The Safety Manager is responsible for implementing, managing, and monitoring safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role leads by example and promotes a strong safety culture by working closely with field operations to ensure the safe execution of all work activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular job site safety inspections and audits
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other applicable agencies
- Serve as the first point of contact in the event of an accident or incident, ensuring appropriate response
- Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near-misses; recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate post-accident restoration with insurance adjusters, repair facilities, employees, and the public
- Maintain relationships with insurance adjusters, claim managers, and loss control consultants
- Lead safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing training
- Maintain and submit required safety documentation and reports
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and crews to identify and address safety risks
- Serve as the point of contact during safety inspections by regulatory agencies
- Oversee company drug testing program
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and recommend proactive improvements
- Manage and maintain safety equipment, signage, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and project planning sessions
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Must maintain the driving standards as outlined in the vehicle insurance policy
- Must provide current Motor Vehicle Record
- Must obtain current health card
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma
- 2 years of safety experience, preferably in the construction or manufacturing field
- Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and FMCSA safety regulations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and travel to job sites as needed
- Basic computer skills and the ability to be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Preferred
Education and Training:
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30 certification
- MnDOT flagger training certification
- CPR/First Aid/AED training
- MSHA training certification (any level)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
- MN Traffic Control Supervisor certification
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis
- Must be able to stand, bend, and stoop while performing field tasks
- Must be able to sit on a regular basis
- Must be able to reach overhead on an occasional basis
- Have the ability to climb in and out of equipment as necessary
- Must be able to work in high heat and at times dusty environments
Pay: $61,214.16 - $79,720.27 per year
