Position Overview
BrainCo is seeking a Vice President, Public Affairs & Government Relations to lead U.S. public affairs, government engagement, and external communications. This role serves as the primary interface between BrainCo and U.S. policymakers, regulators, media, and key external stakeholders. The Vice President will advise executive leadership on public policy trends, reputational risk, and strategic positioning, while coordinating closely with global headquarters to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Public Affairs & Government Relations
- Develop and execute BrainCo’s U.S. public affairs and government relations strategy in alignment with company objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with federal and state policymakers, regulatory bodies, and relevant industry stakeholders.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the company’s operations, reputation, or market positioning.
- Advise executive leadership on public policy trends, regulatory risk, and external stakeholder considerations.
Media, Spokesperson & Reputation Management
- Serve as BrainCo’s primary U.S. spokesperson to media outlets, government agencies, and external partners.
- Manage media engagement, including press inquiries, interviews, public statements, and briefing preparation.
- Lead crisis communications efforts when necessary, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging.
- Oversee external messaging to strengthen brand credibility and public trust.
Executive, Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Partner closely with executive leadership, legal, compliance, and operations teams on public affairs and external communications.
- Coordinate with global headquarters to ensure alignment on messaging, policy positions, and response strategies.
- Support internal alignment across regions and time zones on emerging public affairs issues.
Process, Infrastructure & Advisory
- Establish public affairs workflows, media protocols, and communication guidelines to ensure consistency and readiness.
- Identify opportunities to elevate BrainCo’s thought leadership through public speaking, industry engagement, and strategic visibility.
- Provide regular updates and insights to leadership on public perception, stakeholder engagement, and policy developments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Communications, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience in public affairs, government relations, public relations, or strategic communications.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with U.S. government stakeholders, policymakers, or regulatory bodies.
- Proven ability to serve as a spokesperson and trusted advisor to executive leadership.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to operate independently in high-visibility situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with multinational or global organizations.
- Prior experience leading external communications, public affairs, or government relations at a senior level.
- Existing relationships within U.S. policy, regulatory, or media communities.
