The Role
Brain Power Enrichment Programs is a K to 12 academic enrichment company that teaches bright, high potential students how to think, not what to think. Our programs in Math and Problem Solving, Language Arts, and Public Speaking are led by PhD level and expert educators, and we currently operate across campuses in Canada and the United States, including a growing presence in New York City.
Brain Power does not run its own building in New York City. We are guests inside a private school, running our enrichment program as part of their after-care hours. That changes what a good day looks like: it depends on showing up prepared, working smoothly with the school's after-care staff, and leaving the space exactly as we found it.
Instruction stays with our teachers. This Coordinator is the person who makes the guest arrangement work: bringing materials in, checking students in and out with the school's after-care team, and being the steady point of contact for parents and the school while the teacher focuses on the lesson. Because we are running one program per day at this site during Phase 1, the Coordinator is also the backup. If a teacher cannot make it, you step in so the session still happens and Brain Power keeps its word to the host school. And because this is a Phase 1 hire, you are also helping build the model for future school partnerships: as Brain Power adds more host schools and more afternoons in New York City, this person is positioned to help organize and coordinate that growth.
What You Will Do
● Arrive with materials ready and coordinate check-in and check-out with the host school's after-care staff each session.
● Serve as the point of contact for parents, students, and the school's after-care team during program hours.
● Support the assigned teacher with setup, transitions, and day-to-day logistics inside the host school's space.
● Serve as backup instructor for Math & Problem Solving, Language Arts & Public Speaking, or Admissions sessions when the scheduled teacher is unavailable. Since only one program runs each day at this site during Phase 1, this backup coverage is a regular part of the role, not an occasional exception.
● Track attendance, incident notes, and daily communications, and pass them along to the NYC Site Director.
● Follow the host school's policies and procedures, and flag scheduling conflicts, space issues, or family concerns before they become bigger problems.
● Help lay the groundwork for future after-school programs at additional partner schools as Brain Power's New York City footprint grows, including scheduling, staffing coordination, and site logistics.
● Help represent Brain Power's approach as a guest in someone else's building: classes built on flexible thinking and real engagement, not worksheets and drills.
What We Are Looking For
● Strong organizational habits and comfort working as a guest inside another organization's space and schedule.
● Comfortable stepping into a classroom when needed. You may be the only Brain Power staff member on site during a session.
● Background or genuine interest in one or more of our three subjects: Math & Problem Solving, Language Arts & Public Speaking, or Admissions, so you can teach a session in a pinch.
● Experience coordinating programs, schools, or schedules is a plus. This role grows into more coordination as we add partner schools.
● Clear, warm communication with parents, students, and school after-care staff.
● Reliable and punctual. Four fixed afternoons a week, 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with room to grow as our NYC partnerships scale.
Why Brain Power
Brain Power has spent more than 30 years building enrichment programs for students who get bored fast and think faster. We are privately backed and scaling deliberately, without cutting corners on the things that matter: small classes, real mentorship, and a curriculum pitched two to three grades above standard. Our instructors hold advanced degrees and treat teaching as a craft, not a script. Joining during Phase 1 in New York City means helping shape how our school partnerships work here, and building the model for the partner schools that come next.
