WHAT YOU WILL DO TO HELP FURTHER THE BIAC MISSION:

The Behavioral Health Services Coordinator will provide behavioral support and group therapy with brain injury survivors.  The Behavioral Health Services Coordinator is responsible for co-facilitating therapeutic groups based on core curriculum. Behavioral Health Services Coordinator offers building wide behavioral support, de-escalation and behavior coaching to residents of Valor on the Fax. Valor on the Fax is a 72-unit permanent supportive housing building exclusively for persons experiencing homelessness who also have a brain injury or related disability.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates Educational/psychoeducational/recreational groups with an emphasis on strength-based treatment, a person-centered approach and trauma-informed care to clients with a brain injury.

  • De-escalation and crisis management for residents.

    • At times, support first responders on-site to ensure resident needs and well-being are prioritized

  • Behavior coaching - assist in completing mental health screeners and grant evaluation screeners  for residents who participate in clinical services/activities and develop appropriate Individualized Service Plans.

    • Service Delivery – Targeted Case Management: Provide coordination with internal and external providers. 

    • May assist is self-harm and suicide safety checks.

    • Monitor treatment progress on an ongoing basis and update Individualized Services Plans when there are changes to the client's level of functioning or  biopsychosocial needs.  

    • Develop discharge planning at the time of program admission and update during services as appropriate.

    • Data Collection, Reporting and Evaluation: Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner according to Federal, State and BIAC Clinical Services (BIACCS) guidelines.

    • Record details of client contact including type of contact, summary of activities, and therapy notes.

      • Billing: Complete necessary billing requirements and maintain Medicaid and other insurance requirements.

      • Being a part of a clinical therapy team that meets periodically for group supervision. 

  • Supports Valor on the Fax staff in  implementing trauma informed practices and modeling person centered care  .


OTHER DUTIES:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.

  • One year or more of experience in de-escalation and crisis intervention.  

  • Experience with trauma-informed care, strength-based therapy interventions, motivational interviewing  and other applicable treatment modalities.

  • Experience working with people with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or psychiatric disabilities .


Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year or more of experience delivering clinical services in a group setting.

  • Experience with substance misuse interventions.

  • Knowledge of community, state, and federal resources for brain injury, disability, or human services specific to the region this position serves.

  • Experience teaching life skills such as: organization, financial management, healthy lifestyle, social skills, job skills, computer, and internet usage.

  • Trained in a form of crisis intervention management, such as CPI or TCI.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • CBIS certification (acquired within one year of employment and maintained through continuing education).  BIAC provides training.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Can read and interpret documents. Can draft routine reports and correspondence. Can speak effectively before groups.  

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) - preferred


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Fast paced office work environment managing multiple priorities.

  • This onsite position will work at Valor on the Fax, typically Monday – Friday.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


OTHER:

  • Equipment used: computer, car, cell phone.

  • Travel: local, with occasional overnight travel to other locations
