JOB DESCRIPTION
About the role:
As an Art Instructor, your role will be crucial in fostering artistic development and providing comprehensive art education to students by delivering comprehensive art instruction, curating student art galleries, and developing engaging lessons. You will play a pivotal role in empowering visually impaired students to embrace their artistic abilities and promote their independent living.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive art instruction to visually impaired students, covering diverse fields of art.
Curate student art galleries on campus and in the community.
Develop specialized art lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students.
Prioritize safety consciousness and practices within the art studio.
Train and collaborate with volunteers, leveraging their support to enhance the learning experience.
Manage the entry process of students' art in regional/national art competitions.
Work with students with multiple disabilities, adapting instructional approaches and providing individualized support.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, promoting student creativity.
Stay updated on current trends and advancements in art education, incorporating innovative approaches and techniques.
Monitor, evaluate and document student progress, recommending additional resources to families.
Deliver engaging art education through both in-person and online classes.
Foster positive relationships with students, families, and caregivers.
Knowledge and Education:
Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of equivalent experience.
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Adaptability to accommodate varying paces of student learning
Excellent organizational skills for managing diverse student needs
Strong time management abilities to effectively handle multiple tasks
Knowledge of safety management and compliance in art education
Exceptional communication skills, delivering engaging art education both in-person and online.
Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of standard office software
Strong training and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, building relationships with children and families.
Ability to multi-task and implement a wide variety of diverse art programs.
Experience:
Three years of experience teaching in the art field, with a demonstrated progression of increasing responsibility preferred.
Work Environment: Position works in a standard office environment.
Salary range $43,000-$48,000
