Job Summary
The Youth Advocate plays a vital role in supporting and empowering young LGBTQIA2S individuals facing various challenges. This position involves working closely with adolescents to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources that promote their well-being and development. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping LGBTQIA2S youth navigate their personal and social challenges. Must be 21.
Responsibilities
- Develop trusting relationships with youth to foster a supportive environment.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to help youth achieve personal goals.
- Educate young individuals on important life skills, including conflict management and decision-making.
- Facilitate group discussions and workshops focused on personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress made by the youth.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of youth within various systems, including educational and social services.
Requirements
- Experience working with high school-age youth in a mentoring or supportive role is preferred.
- Background in social work or related fields is highly desirable.
- Strong conflict management and de-escalation skills to effectively address issues as they arise.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with youth and stakeholders.
- Ability to educate youth on various topics related to personal growth and development.
- A compassionate approach with the ability to empathize with the challenges faced by young individuals.
