QA/QC Manager

Brahma Group, Inc.
Project Location: Milford, Utah – CAPE Station Geothermal Project

Company Overview

Brahma Group, Inc. (BGI), a JT THORPE Group company, is an industrial contractor providing mechanical construction, project management, engineering, piping, maintenance, and other specialized services to industrial clients. Our teams are committed to safety, quality, accountability, and successful project execution.

Position Summary

Brahma Group is seeking an experienced QA/QC Manager to lead and own all quality assurance and quality control activities for the CAPE Station geothermal construction project in Milford, Utah.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for ensuring construction activities meet project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, quality requirements, and client expectations. The QA/QC Manager will oversee quality throughout construction—from material receiving and field installation through testing, documentation, mechanical completion, and final turnover.

The successful candidate will bring extensive industrial construction quality experience with a strong background in mechanical piping, welding, structural steel, equipment installation, civil/concrete construction, and turnover/commissioning documentation.

A major focus of this position will be ensuring quality is verified and documented as construction progresses rather than attempting to reconstruct documentation at project turnover.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management & Field Oversight

  • Lead and manage all QA/QC activities for the project.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and enforce project-specific quality plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Perform regular field verification and surveillance to confirm installed work complies with IFC drawings, specifications, approved submittals, applicable codes, and project quality requirements.
  • Proactively identify quality concerns and work with project and field leadership to resolve issues before they impact subsequent work or project turnover.
  • Manage and provide direction to project inspectors and other quality personnel.
  • Coordinate quality activities with project management, engineering, field supervision, subcontractors, third-party inspectors, and client representatives.
  • Track quality metrics, deficiencies, inspections, testing requirements, and corrective actions through documented closure.
  • Verify construction completion and quality documentation prior to mechanical completion and client acceptance.

Welding, Piping & NDE Quality

  • Manage weld mapping, weld tracking, and material traceability requirements.
  • Verify compliance with applicable Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Coordinate, track, and document required Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities and results.
  • Verify piping fabrication and installation comply with applicable drawings, specifications, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Oversee and document pressure testing activities.
  • Ensure weld, NDE, testing, and supporting quality records remain complete and traceable throughout construction.

Material & Installation Quality

  • Oversee material receiving inspections and documentation.
  • Maintain traceability of Material Test Reports (MTRs) and other required material certifications.
  • Verify structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, and civil/concrete installations against approved project requirements.
  • Confirm equipment installation, alignment, placement, and associated documentation meet project specifications.
  • Identify nonconforming work and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and documented closure.

Electronic Documentation & Turnover

  • Lead the continuous assembly, review, audit, and turnover of complete electronic quality packages.
  • Utilize Bluebeam and other electronic document-control systems to organize and maintain quality records.
  • Compile drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, inspection records, weld and NDE documentation, MTRs, test reports, redlines, punch-list records, NCR closures, and other supporting documentation.
  • Build organized, searchable, and fully traceable turnover packages by system and work package.
  • Regularly audit quality documentation to identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent records while construction is still in progress.
  • Maintain documentation in a manner that allows installed work to be traced back to the appropriate drawings, materials, inspections, tests, and supporting quality records.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve documentation gaps before mechanical completion.
  • Perform final reviews to confirm turnover packages are complete, accurate, traceable, and defensible prior to submission and client acceptance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of industrial construction QA/QC experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading quality activities on large industrial construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Mechanical piping systems
  • Welding and weld quality documentation
  • Structural steel
  • Mechanical equipment installation
  • Civil and concrete construction
  • Pressure testing
  • NDE coordination and documentation
  • Material receiving and MTR traceability
  • NCR and corrective-action processes
  • Mechanical completion and turnover documentation
  • Strong understanding of WPS, PQR, and WPQ requirements and documentation.
  • Experience developing and administering project quality plans and ITPs.
  • Strong experience with electronic construction documentation and turnover packages.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam required; experience with additional electronic document-control or construction management systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other technical construction documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to documentation accuracy and traceability.
  • Ability to lead inspectors and quality personnel while working collaboratively with construction and project management teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to spend significant time in the field verifying work in progress.

Key Expectations

The QA/QC Manager is expected to take ownership of project quality from installation through final turnover. Success in this position requires a proactive approach to field quality, documentation, and issue resolution.

The expectation is straightforward: verify and document quality during construction—not reconstruct it at turnover.
