Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses and other transit vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in excellent working condition, including checking mechanical systems and safety equipment
- Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor while communicating effectively with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues
- Manage behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to promote a safe and respectful environment
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those requiring special accommodations or childcare support
- Keep accurate records of routes, student attendance, incidents, and maintenance needs
- Respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations, coordinating with emergency responders when necessary
