Position Summary
Braham Area Schools is seeking a compassionate, student-centered professional to serve as a 0.5 FTE Middle School Counselor or School Social Worker.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group counseling services to middle school students.
- Support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and career development.
- Teach and reinforce positive coping skills, conflict resolution, and healthy relationship skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community agencies to address student needs.
- Participate in problem-solving teams, intervention meetings, and student support planning.
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans.
- Monitor student attendance and implement interventions to improve attendance and engagement.
- Connect students and families with appropriate school and community resources.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid Minnesota School Counselor License or Minnesota School Social Worker License.
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning, mental health supports, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Knowledge of MTSS, Section 504, and special education processes preferred.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming, equitable, and supportive learning environment for all students.
