Key Responsibilities
- Hands-On Leadership & Supervision: Serve as a working foreman by performing O&M duties while leading, directing, and supervising daily crew activities in coke handling and material operations.
- Operations Coordination: Lead and coordinate daily coke handling operations, including loading, unloading, and overall material movement to ensure efficient workflow.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as loaders, forklifts, skid steers, and conveyors to support operational needs.
- Safety Leadership & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture by conducting pre-shift meetings, JSAs, and toolbox talks; identify and correct unsafe conditions; enforce safety protocols and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.
- Permit & Regulatory Oversight: Act as an Authorized Person responsible for issuing and managing permits (LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space) and ensuring full compliance with regulatory and site requirements.
- Production & Quality Monitoring: Monitor production output, quality standards, housekeeping, and environmental controls to maintain operational excellence.
- Team Training & Development: Train, mentor, and support team members to enhance performance, safety awareness, and skill development.
- Reporting & Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate operational reports, permits, and documentation to ensure compliance and effective communication.
- Shift Leadership Accountability: Serve as the designated on-shift leader with full authority over operations, personnel, and safety compliance, ensuring continuous oversight and decision-making.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience in industrial operations, with the ability to direct crews in high-risk environments.
- Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of LOTO, Hot Work, and Confined Space safety procedures.
- Permit Authorization: Capability to serve as an Authorized Person responsible for issuing and managing permits.
- Material Handling Experience: Hands-on experience in bulk material handling operations.
- TWIC Requirement: Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Specialized Technical Experience: Experience with advanced rigging and critical lifts, refinery or petroleum coke handling, welding, and fabrication.
- Permit Experience: Prior experience serving as a Permit Issuer or Authorized Person.
- Certifications: OSHA or MSHA certifications preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding work in industrial environments, including operating heavy equipment, lifting materials, working outdoors in varying conditions, and maintaining active, hands-on oversight of operations and crew activities.
- Salary: $40.00-$60.00 per hour (The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual hourly rate will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience)
