As aControls Engineer, you will work in a team environment to develop building automation solutions for projects of all sizes. Systems frequently encountered in our projects include air handling systems, chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, VRF and laboratory air systems.This position will work closely with controls estimators, project managers and technicians to support the design, programming and installation of controls solutions.

In order to properly perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear and use hands/fingers in order to grasp/handle/feel. The associate is occasionally required to stand, sit and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds. This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment consists of an office environment, as well as visiting project sites which can include active construction sites, existing operating facilities, mechanical and electrical equipment rooms. Site visits will frequently require the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE, provided by Brady) as the associate may be exposed to wet and/or humid areas, elevated areas, excessively warm/cold areas, high noise levels and areas where there is the potential for electric shock or injury from operating machinery.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Evaluate projects documents including construction plans, specifications, proposals and estimates to determine project requirements and validate project scope; writing requests for information as required.
- Develop building automation drawings including flow diagrams, controller wiring diagrams, valve and damper selection for use by Brady’s installation team.
- Develop system programming and graphics.
- Provide engineering support to field associates during installation, construction and commissioning of assigned projects.
- Provide exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.
- Ensure proper system operation by coordinating with equipment manufacturers, field technicians, and startup technicians during project installation and project closeout.
- Provide assistance with field installation issues, electrical terminations, support for graphic development, final testing, and startup of large systems.
- Support continuous quality improvement of controls engineering via development of templates, performing design reviews for constructability, maintainability, optimization, and other quality initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership & mentorship to fellow controls associates
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Any one of
- Associate’s degree in Building Automation and/or HVAC related concentration
- Bachelor’s degree (BSME or BSEE preferred)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, Electrical design and engineering theory.
- Basic understanding of low voltage circuit design and theory.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans/specifications.
- Basic programming experience
- Experience utilizing CAD design type software (experience with Microsoft Visio Design software a plus)
- Ability to travel up to 15%. Occasional overnight travel may also be required.
- 5 years experience in the Building Automation industry
- Experience with commissioning Building Automation Systems.
- Experience configuring and programming building automation controllers
- Licenses in any of the following are a plus: PE, EI, EIT
