What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineering Support Specialist position at Bradley Professional, A Division of the Bradley Group?
Bradley Professional is seeking a technically skilled engineer to support our client's sales team by helping customers transition from traditional rebar to our engineered structural mesh (ESM) products for concrete reinforcement. You’ll be the bridge between customer needs and our manufacturing capabilities, ensuring designs are accurate, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
Core Purpose
In this role, you’ll work closely with inside sales representatives to:
- Translate customer rebar reinforcement plans into structural mesh designs.
- Create detailed engineering drawings and calculations using AutoCAD and other tools.
- Ensure designs meet technical standards, customer expectations, and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering (≈70%)
- Convert customer-provided rebar plans into structural mesh solutions.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, calculations, and material takeoffs using CAD software and engineering principles.
- Collaborate with sales reps and customers to verify designs are accurate, competitive, and manufacturable.
- Produce clear documentation for manufacturing teams to follow precisely.
Additional Technical Support (≈10%)
- Assist in developing new mesh products and provide technical information for marketing purposes.
- Represent the company in industry groups, standards committees, or code-related activities.
- Visit customer sites with sales reps to answer technical questions and strengthen client relationships.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong engineering background, ideally in civil engineering with a focus on concrete reinforcement.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and drafting.
- Strong analytical skills to perform calculations and make design adjustments.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-engineers.
- Exceptional attention to detail—accuracy is critical in shop drawings.
- Time management and autonomy to structure your own workday effectively.
What This Role Is Not
- This is not a direct sales role—you’ll provide technical support rather than selling products.
- While some travel to customer sites is required, most work is desk-based.
- It does not involve direct management of staff.
Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll serve as the technical translator between customer requirements and manufacturing execution. Your work enables customers to adopt innovative mesh solutions, ensures technical excellence, and supports the sales team in building strong, trusted relationships.
