**Job Description:**
The Registered Nurse is responsible for managing individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process. This includes:
* Conducting individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs
* Developing plans of care that reflect collaboration with other healthcare team members
* Performing therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plans of care
* Delivering care with age and cultural competence to specific patient populations
* Documenting patient assessment findings, physical and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions, and progress towards problem resolution
**Responsibilities:**
* Conduct ongoing assessments as determined by patients' conditions and/or policies, procedures, or protocols
* Reprioritize care accordingly
* Maintain confidentiality in matters related to patients, families, and client facility staff
* Provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patients' and families' diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights
* Report patient conditions to appropriate personnel during each shift
* Maintain current competency in nursing specialty by attending education workshops
* Supervise Behavioral Health Specialists and support staff in accordance with program standards
* Provide consistent leadership on unit when assigned as Charge Nurse according to program standards
* Remain current on updates regarding unit and/or hospital by reading communication from Bradley and Lifespan
**Requirements:**
* Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing
* Graduate of a school of nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island
* Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process
* One year of psychiatric nursing and/or pediatric nursing preferred
**Work Environment:**
* Work is performed in a psychology-based clinical setting requiring extensive standing, walking, and occasional lifting of patients
* Strong background and experience working with students with various emotional and behavioral disorders, including developmental disabilities such as mental retardation or autism spectrum disorders
