Job Types: Full-time, Part-time must have open availability Monday- Friday regular office hours. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS AS NEEDED!

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting optometrists with patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, charting, working one on one with patients and other employees. We expect our candidate to have excellent interpersonal skills to provide exceptional patient service. We require outgoing personality and smiling faces. Shy people need not apply.
Duties include but are not limited to: Pre-testing all patients for the doctor, Filing charts, Pulling charts, answering the phone, scheduling and confirming patient appointments, dispensing contact lenses, training new contact lens wearers, collecting payments, filing vision insurance and more.
Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and conducting preliminary tests.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and optical products.
- Maintain and operate various diagnostic equipment, ensuring all systems are functioning correctly.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Provide support in sales of optical products, including glasses and contact lenses.
- Assist with pediatric patients, ensuring a comfortable experience during their visits.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
Experience
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye care is essential.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, particularly as it pertains to the visual system.
- Experience working with optical equipment is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in pediatrics or sales, is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Looking for candidates for Full Time must be available at least 4-5 days a week, including some weekends.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS AS NEEDED!
Minimum high school diploma, some college preferred.
Experience in the optical field preferred but exceptions may be made for exceptional candidates.
