Position Summary
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Perform triage assessments and prioritize patient care based on acuity.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policy.
- Monitor patient status and document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record.
- Assist with procedures and provide support to physicians and other team members.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in emergency nursing.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of one year of experience as an Emergency Room RN required.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification – required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification – required.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification – required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions as needed.
