Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager – Financials & Trusts, the Staff Accountant will process various aspects of accounting for the Firm including general accounting operations and verifying financial transactions as well as serving as back-up to the Accounts Receivable and Trust Specialists.
This position requires an organized and highly motivated team player with strong initiative, communication skills, and an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare month end reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Maintain daily and monthly journal entries.
- Initiate, review, and confirm bank transactions.
- Assist with various tax filings in accordance with regulations.
- Provide backup to the Accounts Receivable and Trust Specialist positions.
- Support Senior Accountant with various accounting projects.
- Provide help for audits by external entities.
- Compile documents and coordinate communication with outside parties.
- Research and respond to internal and external financial inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA, or actively pursuing (preferred).
- 1-2 years of accounting experience.
- Law firm or public accounting experience (preferred).
- Intermediate proficiency with Excel.
- Familiarity with Elite 3E (preferred)
- Ability to understand and apply basic GAAP theories and procedures.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional oral and written communication.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy to thrive in a high-volume environment.
- A client service mindset and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Self-motivated to perform under minimal supervision.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
