JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Assistant Principal

SUMMARY
The Assistant Principal is a leader responsible for contributing to and communicating a vision and focused plan for improving student achievement and student behavior; creating a community of continuous learning for all staff and students; and fostering a culture of high expectations for all students. The Assistant Principal is charged with creating a safe, and supportive school climate.
DUTIES
- Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations.
- Counsel students and parents about school and district policies.
- Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations.
- Assist in the planning, developing and implementing of individual student behavior plans.
- Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom issues.
- Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
- Confer appropriate consequences for behavior including detention and student discipline.
- Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records.
- Attend required committee meetings.
- Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in school.
- Implement social/behavioral groups to assist students in developing appropriate pro-social behaviors
- Review and analyze behavior data with building administration to identify school level, grade level and/or student behavior needs.
- Gather data and participate in the MTSS process
- Evaluate certified and non-certified staff
- Attend building and district team and committee meetings
- Perform any other duties during the school day as assigned by the principal
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with Administration Certification
- Preferred: Initial Evaluator Training - Must complete by October 1, 2025
- Preferred: Elementary School / Early Childhood experience
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents and staff).
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
SCHEDULING
- 200 day position. Certified Staff hours: 7:45 – 3:30
