Job Duties:
Oversee daily clinical operations of the unit to ensure high-quality resident care in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines
Provide and supervise nursing care and treatments in accordance with physician orders and individualized care plans
Conduct ongoing resident assessments, including wound and skin evaluations, and update care plans as needed
Lead and manage wound care services, including assessment, treatment, prevention, and monitoring of wounds such as pressure ulcers, surgical sites, and other skin conditions
Monitor residents’ skin integrity and implement interventions to prevent pressure injuries
Collaborate with the DON/ADON and interdisciplinary team to address resident care needs, concerns, and family issues
Perform medication administration and IV therapy as ordered
Conduct routine rounds to assess resident conditions, staff performance, and clinical practices
Monitor resident progress, response to treatments, and report changes in condition to appropriate staff
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of nursing care, wound treatments, and resident/family education
Complete incident reports and follow up on changes in resident condition
Oversee and support admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents
Assist with staff supervision, including coaching, performance monitoring, and ensuring adherence to schedules and policies
Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of nursing staff as needed
Maintain medication orders, narcotic counts, and emergency kit compliance
Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and follow-up on outstanding clinical needs
Promote a positive, team-oriented environment while ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards of care
Qualifications:
Current RN or LPN license in the state of employment
Prior supervisory or Unit Manager experience preferred
Experience or strong knowledge in wound care management (pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, skin integrity)
Ability to lead, mentor, and support nursing staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Strong organizational and time management skills
Experience with medication administration, treatments, and IV therapy
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance
Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
