Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate patient records, including admission, transfer, and discharge documentation
- Coordinate communication between healthcare providers, patients, and other hospital departments to facilitate smooth operations
- Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures while ensuring proper documentation and follow-up
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct communications appropriately within the unit
- Prepare and distribute reports, forms, and correspondence related to patient care and unit activities
- Assist with inventory management of office and medical supplies to ensure availability and proper stock levels
- Support clinical staff by organizing patient charts and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accessible
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative support role preferred
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records (EHR) software
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Certification as a Unit Clerk or Medical Secretary
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
- Advanced proficiency in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
