JOB SUMMARY:
Enforces court ordered support cases per PA child support laws and regulations and other related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
Positions in this class are responsible for monitoring the financial and non-financial court order for support and using enforcement remedies necessary to bring the support order into compliance.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Examines court ordered support cases by working alerts generated on a State-Wide Child Support System;
Schedule and attend contempt conferences/hearings with defendants who are not in compliance; Attach defendant's wages for court ordered support;
Resolve court ordered bench warrants;
Appear and testify for court hearings;
Work on daily correspondence;
Communicating with other state child support agencies;
Responding to client phone messages;
Meeting with clients to resolve child support matters;
Scanning documents, along with filing;
Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions;
Must be able to sit for long periods of time with frequent periods of standing, walking, and occasional twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing required for obtaining files, doing inspections or other job duties;
Dexterity requirements range from simple to complex movements of fingers/hands, legs/feet, or torso to carry out job duties;
Sedentary work with occasional lifting, 15-20 pounds;
Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Possess good knowledge of investigatory practices and techniques;
Possess some knowledge of legal requirements applicable in the area of child support;
Possess skills in relating to delinquent respondents;
Ability to gain confidence and respect of delinquent respondents;
Ability to conduct investigations;
Ability to understand and interpret laws and regulations;
Ability to deal firmly and effectively with clients, employers, and other agencies;
Must conduct self in a professional manner;
Must hold integrity to the highest standard.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
Some experience in human services including some investigative experience and completion of a standard high school course; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge’s, skills, and abilities.
