JOB SUMMARY:
Maintains and cares for outdoor parks and other County grounds by performing landscaping, cleaning, and general upkeep duties. This role ensures that grounds are attractive, functional, and safe for visitors, employees, or residents.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Mow, trim, and edge lawns and turf areas
· Plant, water, fertilize, and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees when needed
· Remove weeds, leaves, debris, and litter
· Operate and maintain landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
· Apply pesticides and fertilizers safely when needed
· Perform seasonal tasks (snow removal, leaf collection, planting)
· Repair fences, walkways, or minor outdoor structures
· Monitor grounds for hazards and report maintenance issues
· Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Primarily outdoors (parks, County properties, etc.)
· Exposure to varying weather conditions
· May involve early mornings, weekends, and seasonal hours
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
· Ability to operate landscaping equipment and power tools safely
· Ability to operate a truck with trailer safely
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity
· Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
· Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as mowing, trimming, raking, and digging
· Ability to climb ladders and navigate uneven terrain when necessary
· Sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate equipment and identify hazards
· Ability to work independently and maintain productivity throughout physically demanding shifts
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
· Basic knowledge of landscaping and gardening techniques
· Ability to use hand and power tools safely
· Physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions
· Attention to detail and ability to work independently
· Time management and reliability
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
· Experience with driving a truck with trailer
· Pesticide application certification a plus
· Valid Driver’s license
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
