Job Purpose:

The VP, LatAm Commercial Team Lead is responsible for managing, maintaining and growing an assigned client portfolio, and establishing new clients. The individual should know and understand the legal and regulatory environment and requirements and comply with them. It is also expected that the financial advisor acts with ethics, transparency and competence towards clients to identify and develop business opportunities and to ensure and promote a long–term, trustworthy and sustainable relationship. In addition, Team Leader is responsible for overseeing their RO(s) and ensure the business deliverables and milestones are established.


Duties:

  • Responsible for delivering the LATAM revenue specific revenue and net new money targets for the Individual assigned clients’ relationships as determined by the annual budget exercise 
  • Develop, manage, and grow relationships with high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and families. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering customized wealth management solutions aligned with their financial objectives and risk profile. 
  • Identify new business opportunities and acquire new clients through referrals, professional networks, centers of influence, and strategic business development activities. 
  • Deepen existing client relationships by increasing share of wallet across investment, banking, lending, fiduciary, and wealth planning solutions. 
  • Collaborate with investment advisor, and product partners to deliver holistic wealth management strategies. 
  • Develop and execute client relationship plans focused on asset gathering, retention, and long-term relationship growth. 
  • Identify cross-border banking, investment, and credit opportunities for clients with international financial needs. 
  • Coordinate investment reviews and portfolio discussions, ensuring clients remain informed regarding market developments and investment performance. 
  • Partner with Corporate & Institutional Banking, and Premium Banking teams to identify and convert qualified wealth management prospects. 
  • Proactively identify liquidity events, business sales, succession planning opportunities, and other wealth creation events that may lead to new business opportunities. 
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Latin American economic, political, regulatory, and market trends that may impact client portfolios and financial objectives. 
  • Utilize BI and wealth management platforms to maintain accurate client records, pipeline activity, and business development efforts.
  • Conduct client visits jointly with investment advisors to strengthen relationships, address client needs, and identify business opportunities, preparing for meetings, completing call reports, with follow up action items.
  • Perform on-going customer due diligence, collecting and obtaining the necessary information and documents to establish and maintain business relationships and carry out transactions.
  • Collect information on client’s knowledge and experience in the investment field, financial situation, investment objectives, ability to bear losses and risk tolerance to provide clients and prospect clients with adequate investment services, including reception, transmission and execution of trade orders and investment advices.
  • Manage relationships always in compliance with the applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, policies and procedures set out by the Bank and Broker-Dealer.
  • Provide clients with authorized analysis, investment advice and marketing materials, in coordination with the advisory team whenever needed to meet clients’ expectations.
  • Receive trade orders from clients, perform the suitability controls, transmit the orders for execution according to the best interests of clients, and keep clients informed about the execution.
  • Liaise and work together with Compliance and the Risk function to obtain advice and to address questions related to regulatory requirements and risk management.
  • Maintain good understanding of the latest developments of the industry, economic and political developments, updates and new laws and regulations to maintain a high-quality service to clients
  • Plan actions and measure in line with commercial goals, meet expectations and deliverable framework.
  • Provides direct management and oversight of direct reports, including task prioritization, performance supervision and development


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, AML/KYC, BSA, OFAC, suitability, fiduciary, and client documentation standards.
  • Conduct periodic client reviews and maintain complete and accurate client records in accordance with regulatory and Bank requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to identify and mitigate potential regulatory, reputational, and operational risks


Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field. Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management, Private Wealth Management, Family Office, or Financial Advisory services.
  • Proven track record of acquiring and managing high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth client relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of investment products, portfolio construction, wealth planning, trust and estate strategies, credit solutions, and alternative investments.
  • Experience serving Latin American clients and understanding the unique financial, cultural, and regulatory considerations of the region.
  • Strong business development, networking, and relationship management capabilities.
  • Excellent understanding of international and cross-border wealth management structures.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of AML/KYC, BSA, OFAC, and wealth management regulatory requirements.
  • Series 7, Series 66 (or equivalent), and other applicable securities licenses preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required; Portuguese highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout Latin America as needed
