Duties
- Review and process dental insurance claims accurately using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility through insurance portals or direct communication with providers.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining the confidentiality and security of all medical records and patient information.
- Resolve claim denials or discrepancies by investigating issues related to managed care policies or coding errors.
- Collaborate with dental office staff to facilitate accurate medical records documentation and ensure proper medical coding for procedures.
- Stay current with updates in insurance policies, CPT/ICD coding standards, and healthcare regulations to ensure accurate billing practices.
- Assist patients with understanding their dental benefits and explain coverage details clearly to promote transparency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office administration, dental office experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes, medical terminology, and medical records management.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Proficiency in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Experience with insurance verification procedures within a dental or healthcare setting.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate claim processing and record keeping.
