Position General Summary:
This position is an Essential position at the facility to ensure efficient operations and patient care. Employees hired into an Essential position are expected to report to work for their scheduled shifts regardless of the environmental weather and road conditions that may exist.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The OB/GYN diagnoses and treats various medical conditions that impact women’s health. The incumbent will provide specialized gynecological care and health education for all ages and model appropriate behavior as exemplified in the HCCH mission. Furthermore, the OB/GYN will:
- Provide women’s health/gynecological services
- Provide perinatal and postnatal care, no deliveries at our facilities and no call expectations
- Meet regularly with any Medical Incumbents assigned to him/her for consultation, supervision, and collaboration.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients according to approved protocol and acceptable standards of practice.
- Perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to approved protocols.
- Perform other job functions as requested.
Facility General Responsibilities:
- Attend facility new hire orientation as scheduled by HR
- Complete Department Orientation Initial Competency within 7 days of hire date
- Complete Department Initial Skills Competency within 90 days of hire date
- Follow facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures
- Respect cultural and religious practices of patients from all backgrounds
- Follow HIPAA regulations at all times
- Be punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
- Dress within the dress code requirements of the facility
- Identifies all patients using at least two identifiers verbally (name and DOB), and by checking ID bracelet
- Follows Hospital Wide and Department Specific policies and procedures
- Must interact with fellow physicians, guests, staff, and patients pleasantly, cooperatively, and effectively
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to navigate EMR
- Sound understanding of physician practices and nationally accepted standards of patient care
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Good Communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately with all age groups
- Ability to perform under stress and cope with difficult situations
- Good time management and organizational skills to complete patient care and documentation
- Ability to perform DaVinci-assisted surgical operations (training available if necessary)
Position Requirements: Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Certifications;
- Graduate of a medical school. Must have successfully completed training in Obstetrics/Gynecology and provide proof of continuing education.
- Current Physician licensure in the State of Tennessee preferred.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.

Working Conditions:
The OB/GYN may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, may be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. The OB/GYN must be able to handle emergency or crisis situations, may occasionally be subject to irregular hours, and may be required to wear protective equipment as necessary. The OB/GYN may be performing surgeries in the hospital operating room setting and may face hazards from exposure to anesthesia gases, drugs, radiation, and surgical instruments. The use of disinfecting and sterilizing agents may cause damage to skin and respiratory system. Additionally, OB/GYNs treat patients that may be confused, irrational, agitated, and/or uncooperative.
