What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Technician position at Bracken Construction Company, Inc.?
Position Summary
The Safety Technician is responsible for supporting field compliance by working directly with Bracken employees to ensure adherence to federal regulations, client requirements, and company policies and procedures. Approximately 90% of the Safety Technician’s responsibilities are performed in the field, interacting with employees as they complete their assigned work and providing coaching, guidance, and oversight to promote safe work practices. The Safety Technician is also responsible for training employees on applicable guidelines, requirements, and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Audit the job site to ensure safe work performance and compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Understand and be knowledgeable of the federal regulations governing the construction field and be able to apply those in the field as necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in the construction industry in a trade that is applicable to the scopes of work Bracken performs i.e. mill wright, iron workers, pipe fitter, etc.
- CHST or CSSP are preferred but not required.
- Must have excellent oral communication skills.
- Current driver’s license with excellent driving history is required.
- Employee must be bi-lingual.
- Must work overtime and weekend hours as necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Regular, punctual attendance is required.
Physical Demands
- Overtime, weekend work, odd hours, and overnight travel as required.
- Climb, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Walk in excess of five miles per day.
- Lift, push, and pull 100 pounds occasionally and carry 25 pounds frequently.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures and a loud and dusty environment.
- Respond to emergency situations and medical trauma in a calm, controlled manner.
