Manager, Manufacturing and Process Engineering

Imagine starting your day on the shop floor, scanning visual boards, and checking the pulse of machining, assembly, and secondary ops. By mid-morning, you’re in focused one-on-ones, growing Manufacturing and Process Engineers and Technicians through the product lifecycle. After lunch, you’re deep in a PFMEA review for an upcoming launch, then walking a kaizen event to tighten safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost. You close the day aligning priorities with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales—ensuring today’s builds stay on track while tomorrow’s capacity comes online.

How You’ll Make an Impact Lead People and Build Capability
  • Coach and develop Manufacturing Engineers, Process Engineers, and Technicians from concept through sustainment.
  • Hold regular career- and skill-focused 1:1s to accelerate growth and technical mastery.
  • Serve as the connector between engineering and the business—turn customer needs into team priorities and communicate capabilities and constraints with clarity.
  • Negotiate timelines and priorities transparently across departments, and resolve conflicts with empathy and rigor.
Engineer and Optimize Production
  • Own the design, optimization, automation, and standardization of manufacturing processes across machining, assembly, and secondary operations.
  • Lead hands-on continuous improvement centered on SQDPC (safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost).
  • Drive structured problem solving to tackle complex engineering and production challenges.
  • Champion standard work, visual management, and data-driven decisions.
  • Define and track 5–8 KPIs aligned with company priorities.
  • Verify job routers before release—operation sequence, resources, standards, and outside services are accurate.
Partner Across Functions and Deploy Capital
  • Collaborate daily with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales to meet production targets and enable long-term growth.
  • Lead capital planning, equipment selection, installation, validation, and commissioning.
  • Support new product and process introductions, including DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, and creation of control plans.
  • Ensure disciplined execution of engineering change management.
Be the Technical Anchor
  • Act as the site’s escalation point and manufacturing subject matter expert.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and quality system requirements.
  • Support off-shift and weekend production when required to keep operations moving.
Your Toolkit Required
  • 8 years in manufacturing or process engineering within a precision manufacturing environment.
  • 4 years leading or managing engineering teams.
  • Deep background in precision CNC manufacturing.
  • Expert-level CAD/CAM proficiency (Autodesk, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Strong PLC programming capabilities—troubleshooting, optimization, logic interfaces.
  • Working command of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Applied understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; extensive equivalent experience will be considered.
Preferred
  • Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications.
  • Background in metallurgy or materials.
  • Six Sigma or similar formal CI certification.

Salary : $150,000 - $165,000
