About BPI Medical

BPI Medical is a leading provider of medical instrument and endoscope repair services. Founded in 1976 in Fife, Washington, we serve hospitals, surgery centers, and health systems across all 48 contiguous states with flexible endoscope repair, rigid endoscope repair, surgical instrument repair, power equipment repair, and mobile on-site service. We operate as an ISO 13485:2016 certified facility and are trusted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, MultiCare Health System, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and other anchor health systems to keep critical surgical and diagnostic equipment in service.

Our work directly supports patient care: every device that comes through our facility goes back into service, often the same week, ready for the next procedure. We are growing ? significantly ? and we are investing in the people, systems, and processes that will let us keep delivering on what has been our standard since 1976: it has to be right, and it has to be fast, no exceptions.

The Role

As a Power Equipment Repair Technician at BPI Medical, you bring high-cost surgical power tools back to OEM-equivalent mechanical, electrical, and autoclave-cycle integrity ? orthopedic drills, saws, reamers, dermatomes, shavers, and their consoles. The devices you repair go back into ORs at hospitals, surgery centers, and health systems we've served since 1976, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, MultiCare Health System, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. You own each device from intake through final QA release, signing the records that protect the patient on the other end.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble surgical power tools ? orthopedic drills, saws, reamers, dermatomes, shavers, and their consoles.
  • Rebuild motors, reassemble gear trains, replace sealed bearings, service autoclave gaskets, and rebuild battery packs and chuck mechanisms.
  • Service consoles and footswitches: power supply rebuild, control PCB replacement, firmware verification, and electrical safety verification per IEC 60601-1.
  • Work across major OEM platforms ? Stryker, ConMed, Medtronic Midas Rex, DePuy Synthes, Aesculap Acculan, Arthrex ? building platform-deep fluency as you advance through Tech I, Tech II, and Tech III.
  • Verify performance against OEM acceptance criteria using torque/RPM stands, current-draw measurement, electrical-safety analyzers, and autoclave-seal pressure tests.
  • As a senior technician, own console-level electronics work, lead complex motor rebuilds, mentor newer technicians, and serve as the line's technical reference.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ANY ONE of the following: completion of a biomedical, electronics, mechatronics, or related technology program; two or more years of medical device, power-tool, motor/electromechanical, or comparable repair experience; U.S. Military training in a relevant medical equipment, biomedical, or electronics MOS (such as Army 68A, Air Force 4A2X1, or Navy ET); or completion of a recognized biomedical, electronics, or precision-machining apprenticeship program.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read schematics and OEM service literature.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted; able to work an assigned shift on-site in Fife, WA.
  • U.S. work authorization.

Nice to Have

  • OEM service training on Stryker, ConMed, Medtronic Midas Rex, DePuy Synthes, Aesculap Acculan, or Arthrex platforms.
  • BMET, CRCST, or ISO 13485:2016 internal auditor credential.
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and AAMI ST79 standards.
  • Brushless-motor or motor-controller electronics background.
  • Prior experience in an ISO 13485 or FDA 21 CFR Part 820 environment.

Benefits

BPI Medical offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage
