BP&L Services LLC is seeking a skilled and safety‑focused Journeyman Electrician to support electrical construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities across industrial, oilfield, and commercial projects in the Permian Basin. The Journeyman Electrician will work independently or as part of a crew to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with NEC standards, company procedures, and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, conduit, and control wiring
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and one‑line diagrams
- Perform electrical work on industrial facilities, oilfield locations, pump stations, MCCs, VFDs, panels, and instrumentation
- Evaluate job scope requirements, including estimating manpower needs, crew size, labor hours, and preparing material take‑offs and equipment lists for assigned projects
- Assist in job planning and pre‑task preparation by identifying tools, materials, and personnel required to safely and efficiently complete work
- Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and BP&L safety standards
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and measuring devices (multimeters, megger, etc.)
- Diagnose electrical issues and determine corrective actions efficiently to minimize downtime
- Install and terminate conductors, raceways, panels, and electrical devices
- Assist with equipment startups, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities
- Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and permit requirements
- Maintain accurate daily work documentation, material usage, and job progress reporting
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, clients, and other trades
- Mentor apprentices and junior electricians when assigned
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
Required Qualifications
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License (Texas or reciprocal state)
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on electrical experience in industrial and/or oilfield environments
- Strong working knowledge of NEC codes, electrical best practices, and safety regulations
- Experience working in hazardous environments (classified areas preferred)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening and background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Oil & gas or Permian Basin field experience
- Experience with MCCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and control systems
- TWIC card or ability to obtain one
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- CPR/First Aid certification
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme West Texas weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel to remote job sites as required
