Duties
- Greet patients warmly and handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal clinic flow
- Verify insurance coverage, including health insurance knowledge related to Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans, and perform insurance verification procedures
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Assist with intake procedures by collecting patient information, updating medical histories, and reviewing documentation for accuracy
- Process medical billing and collections using medical coding (CPT codes, ICD-9/10), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and documentation review standards
- Maintain organized filing of medical records and ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies while supporting administrative tasks such as data entry and filing
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools for correspondence, reports, and scheduling updates; handle clerical tasks with attention to detail
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with dental terminology and clinical workflows
- Proven proficiency with Dentrix or other dental software is ideal
- Strong understanding of health insurance processes including verification, billing, claims submission
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical administrative support functions such as appointment scheduling, patient intake, insurance processing, and medical records management
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with multi-line phone systems and typing at 10-key speed
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette to create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors
