SUMMARY
This position is responsible to ensuring team members have what they need to follow standardized work methods. Ensures training objectives and established quality and production goals are met.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensures defined 5S standards are met at all times • Ensures first part release and blue part validation with the aid of the team member at defined intervals • Review rework with rework welders to identify systemic issues or areas needed for improvement. • Periodical review of suspect or non-conforming material and documentation on scrap log • Initiate problem solving activities if three consecutive parts have the same defect or if team members have issues loading/producing conforming material. • Conduct product and process audits • Ensures efficient staffing of all required machines and processes • Conducts periodical PDS review and initiates countermeasures if not on target • Conduct jig changes as required • Escalates issues to Supervisor or other employees as needed to ensure procedures are being followed and established targets are being met • Performs machine reset (e.g. wire stick) as per completed training • Trains team members or assigns dedicated training champion and validates team members meet required skill levels. Initiates countermeasures if skill levels are not being met • Efficient interaction with Material Handlers to ensures material booking is complete and accurate • Informs Material Handlers of upcoming and planned jig changes • Provides feedback to Material Handlers about non-conforming material presentation • Provides direction as needed to Material Handlers to ensure uninterrupted material supply to line • Conduct duties in a safe manner, follow all safety procedures, report incidents immediately, wears proper PPE and conducts duties to their level of training. • Other duties as assigned
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
This position reports directly to the Supervisor and has communication relationship with all Department Managers and other employees at BAL.
COMPETENCIES / EXPERIENCE
• Solid understanding of standardized work methods in the automotive environment • Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions • Understanding of quality systems regarding IATF 16949, manufacturing processes • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment • Ability to create a team-oriented environment
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related position / field preferably within JIS-automotive industry • Ability to use computer for work related tasks, Microsoft Office
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Physical, etc.)
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to work weekends and extended shifts as needed • Must be able to work in rotating shifts • Must be able to be on feet for 8 hours or more.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
All employees are responsible for knowing the Quality Policy, how their job supports the quality statement, and quality objectives.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY
Has the authority to stop production if defective or unsafe parts or conditions appear. Has the authority to reject non-conforming material from a supplier. Is empowered to prevent non-conforming material from reaching the customer.
