Job Summary

Join our team as an After-school Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for students during after-school hours. Duties

  • Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles according to traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations.
  • Pick up and drop off students at designated locations, ensuring punctuality and adherence to school policies.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including providing wheelchair assistance when needed.
  • Maintain a safe driving environment by practicing defensive driving techniques and quick responses to traffic changes.
  • Enforce student behavior management policies to promote respectful conduct during transit.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after routes, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations using first aid skills, CPR, emergency stop procedures, and emergency response protocols for transportation.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus or transit vehicle operation.
  • Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation preferred.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English; multilingual skills are a plus for engaging diverse communities.
  • Experience working with children or in youth-centered environments; familiarity with student discipline is advantageous.
  • Certification in first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures related to transportation safety.
  • Physical ability for heavy lifting when assisting students or handling equipment; good vision and hearing are essential for safety.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, school staff, and emergency responders.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and student discipline policies to ensure passenger safety and orderliness during routes.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
