Organization Information:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM), an affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, is a comprehensive out-of-school provider designed to support the most vulnerable youth in the Midlands. Our vision is to provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and leadership, and living a healthy lifestyle. It is our mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, healthy, and caring members of society. Safety, Accountability, Positivity, Integrity, Professionalism, and Respectfulness are our core values that are embedded in our everyday culture.

Position Summary:

The Traveling Club Experience Professional is a member of the BGCM Tiger Team and serves as a flexible, on-demand extension of Club leadership across all BGCM sites. Assigned by the Area Manager, COO or HR based on Club needs, this role steps into any Club and immediately becomes the Club Director's right hand and the heartbeat of the daily Club Experience. The Traveling CEP owns how it feels to walk through our doors at every site: a safe and positive environment, supportive relationships, fun that members talk about at home, real opportunities to lead and belong, and clear, consistently held expectations. This person leads the daily flow of the Club-arrival, transitions, activity areas, and closing-sets the tone with members and staff, and serves as the leader on site when a Club Director is away. The Traveling CEP fills coverage gaps, stabilizes Clubs during staffing shortages or transitions, and helps carry consistent BGCM standards and best practices from one site to the next. Member recognition remains a signature responsibility: wherever they are assigned, the Traveling CEP makes sure young people are seen, celebrated, and known by name. This person thrives on variety, adapts quickly to new teams and environments, and is always ready to jump in and lead any activity, at any Club, on any day. Their enthusiasm and leadership inspire members and motivate staff to take initiative, collaborate, and create impactful experiences for youth every day.

Essential Functions:

Multi-Site Support and Flexibility:
  • Support all BGCM Clubs based on priority needs, including staffing shortages, Club Director absences, leadership transitions, special events, and program launches
  • Collaborate daily with the Director of Operations and Operations Leaders to confirm site assignments and priorities; adjust quickly when assignments change
  • Quickly learn each Club's layout, routines, members, staff, and safety procedures, and integrate seamlessly into the on-site team
  • Serve as the leader on site in a Club Director's absence, maintaining continuity of operations and communicating clearly with the Director of Operations
  • Promote consistency of BGCM standards, expectations, and the Club Experience across all sites; share effective practices observed at one Club with others
  • Provide feedback to the Director of Operations on site trends, needs, and opportunities observed across Clubs
  • Assist with front office duties when needed

A Safe and Positive Environment:
  • Serve as the assigned Club Director's right hand in daily Club operations
  • Maintain required DHHS staff-to-member ratios, supervision coverage, and safety practices in every space, at all times, at every site
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of program spaces, gym, and outdoor areas to confirm they are clean, safe, well-supplied, and ready for members
  • Respond to incidents, behavior concerns, and emergencies calmly and consistently; complete accurate documentation and communicate promptly with the Club Director, Director of Operations, and families
  • Model and reinforce BGCM core values-Safety, Accountability, Positivity, Integrity, Professionalism, and Respectfulness-in every interaction

Member Recognition (a signature responsibility of this role):
  • Lead and strengthen each assigned Club's member recognition system so that it is high-energy, visible, frequent, and celebrates effort, character, attendance, growth, leadership, and everyday wins
  • Help ensure every member is recognized by name over the course of the year, with special attention to the quiet, newest, and most vulnerable members
  • Support consistent recognition practices across BGCM Clubs and share successful ideas between sites
  • Share recognition moments with families, schools, and BGCM Marketing to extend the celebration beyond the Club

Fun, Culture, and Belonging:
  • Plan and lead the FUN-Club-wide events, theme weeks, tournaments, talent shows, field trips, and traditions that make members choose the Club over anywhere else
  • Build genuine, appropriate relationships with members at every site; learn their names, interests, and what is going on in their world
  • Create a Club culture where every member feels safe, welcomed, and like they belong from the very first day

Supporting the Team and Setting Expectations:
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and coaching to Program Specialists and on-site staff; formal performance management is retained by the Club Director
  • Set clear, observable expectations for members and staff and hold them consistently and fairly, every day, with every person
  • Conduct informal observations of staff on the floor and deliver strengths-based, reflective feedback that helps people grow

Creating Opportunities and Partnering for Program Quality:
  • Partner with Program Leads and Youth Development Professionals to ensure programming is well attended, well supported, and well loved by members
  • Prepare the Club for program delivery-space, supplies, equipment, technology, transitions, and member groupings-so YDPs can focus on program quality
  • Step in to deliver or co-facilitate programming when needed, using BGCM/BGCA curricula, the 5 Key Elements of Positive Youth Development, and Program Quality Assessment (PQA) standards
  • Recruit members into programs and opportunities, especially members who would not sign up on their own
  • Work closely with the Program Team, Program Leads, and Youth Development Professionals to develop, coordinate, and maintain a balanced Club program schedule that aligns with member interests, organizational priorities, and program quality standards

Family Engagement, Data, and Administration:
  • Build warm, proactive relationships with parents and caregivers; communicate about member successes, not only concerns
  • Lead or support family engagement moments such as showcases, family nights, and celebration events
  • Ensure accurate daily attendance, scan compliance, meal records, and member data in KidTrax/CitySpan at each assigned site, and report issues promptly
  • Provide transportation for members in BGCM vehicles when needed
