Duties
- Supervise children and adolescents in after-school programs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Implement structured activities that promote childhood development, including arts, sports, theater, and educational games
- Manage classroom behavior using effective behavior management techniques to maintain a positive environment
- Support students with homework assistance, tutoring, and academic enrichment activities
- Facilitate group activities that foster social skills, teamwork, and leadership among participants
- Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral issues
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and community partners to support each child's individual needs
- Incorporate elements of special education strategies when working with children requiring additional support
- Lead recreational activities such as sports coaching or arts projects to encourage physical activity and creativity
- Promote inclusive participation by understanding childhood development principles and adapting activities accordingly
- Maintain detailed records of attendance, incidents, progress reports, and program evaluations
Skills
- Strong classroom management skills to create a structured yet flexible environment conducive to learning and fun
- Experience working with children across various age groups in settings such as daycare, camp, or after-school programs
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively to support positive conduct
