MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Senior Director, Ladders for Leaders leads a BGCAA’s flagship workforce readiness initiative, ensuring young people gain the competencies, experiences, and confidence necessary for long-term success. This role integrates BGCA’s Life & Workforce Readiness Framework—which includes foundational skills, employability skills, career knowledge, and work-based learning experiences—throughout program planning and execution.
KEY ROLES:
- Strategic Leadership & Program Alignment (BGCA Workforce Readiness Framework)
- Lead multiyear strategic plans for Ladders for Leaders, ensuring alignment with BGCA’s Life & Workforce Readiness competencies and club wide goals.
- Ensure equitable access to career-connected learning and high-quality workforce readiness programming.
- Serve as a visible, respected program leader internally and across the broader community.
- Employer Partnerships & Work Based Learning
- Develop and sustain employer partnerships offering internships, mentorships, job shadows, certifications, and other experiential learning—core BGCA readiness experiences.
- Collaborate with industry partners to design meaningful teen work experiences that build employability skills and industry relevant competencies.
- Youth Development & Skill Building
- Foundational Skills: communication, collaboration, problem solving, self-management.
- Employability Skills: interview preparation, résumé development, networking, workplace professionalism.
- Career Knowledge: exposure to career pathways, industry mentors, and aligned postsecondary options.
- Work-Based Learning: paid internships, job shadows, project-based learning, and certification opportunities—highlighted as advanced services in BGCA’s framework.
- Staff Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program staff, interns, and seasonal team members.
- Build team capacity through training aligned with BGCA’s youth development standards, trauma informed practices, and workforce readiness competencies.
- Student Recruitment, Engagement & Retention
- Lead recruitment strategies across BGCAA Clubs, high schools, and community partners.
- Ensure inclusive, culturally responsive programming reflecting BGCA’s emphasis on equitable access to career pathways.
- Foster belonging and support teens in developing future plans aligned to their interests and strengths.
- Data, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Use BGCA tools and workforce outcomes to monitor progress, track skill gains, and assess the impact of employer partnerships.
- Implement continuous quality improvement practices aligned with BGCA standards.
- Resource Development Partnership
- Collaborate with BGCAA’s development team by providing data, impact stories, and program insights.
- Participate in donor meetings, funder visits, and community presentations as needed.
MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university or a minimum of ten years previous management experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively to the public.
- Ability to deal effectively with members in all types of situations, including discipline problems.
- Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
- Demonstrated ability in working with youth, parents, and community leaders.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc.
- Ability to meet physical demands of working with children.
