Job Title: Food Service Cook/Food Truck Driver
Salary: Competitive

1. JOB PURPOSE

The primary function of the Food Service Cook is to prepare and cook a variety of foods according to customers’ orders or supervisors’ instructions while following approved procedures to comply with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards.
2. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards. Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques
- Store food properly and safely, marking the date and item
- Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to the immediate supervisor
- Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes planned for the day and or specialized event
- Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that meals are served according to posted schedules and that the excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved
- Apportion food for serving
- Keep work area Organized and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation; follow general and weekly cleaning checklists as posted
- Conduct nutrition education projects and mentor workforce teens; never leaving them unattended
- Ensure security of the kitchen at the end of each work day. Regular in-person attendance, per work schedule, is an essential function of this position
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Truck
- Portion and wrap food or prepare for service to customers
- Clean service station, cooking equipment, and food truck kitchen area
- Prepare/cook a variety of foods according to customers’ orders or supervisor’s instructions, follow approved procedures
- Follow all HACCP rules and regulations
- Wash, peel and cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
- Stock serving areas and refrigerators
- Set up and breakdown food prep and service stations, keep records of temperatures and amounts of foods used
- Ensure the food truck is in proper mechanical and working order.
- Cover, label, and date all leftover foods for storage
- Perform other tasks as assigned or required
- Actively participate in mandatory Boys & Girls Club trainings and All Staff meetings
- Occasionally may be required to work special events promoted by the organization during evenings and/or weekends.
- Completes any additional assignments as requested by supervisor.
3. QUALIFICATIONS
BACKGROUND SCREENING
- Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families.
Certifications
- SERV Safe Manager Food Safety Certification required;
OR - must obtain SERV Safe Certification within three (3) months of employment
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1 year of food service experience.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Follow policies, procedures, and rules of the organization.
- Effective communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Great planning and organization skills
- Ability to work at a fast pace and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
- Developing and preparing creative, interesting, and innovative recipes.
- Having a keen sense of taste and smell to create meals that customers will enjoy.
- Agility to handle knives and other cooking implements properly for cutting, chopping, and dicing.
- Time management skills to ensure efficiency in meal preparation and service.
Travel
Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes.
4. Working conditions
Our offices, neighborhood clubhouses, and school-based clubs are fast-paced work environments and are strategically located in areas of St. Lucie County where youth need us most. Based on the organization's needs, flexibility to work different schedules and work in different locations in St. Lucie County is required due to changing business demands. General office conditions are the standard work environment (standing, sitting, and walking). 5. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping/kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, and finger dexterity.
- This position requires extended talking, listening, sitting, walking, and standing; regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Daily operation of personal motor vehicles may be needed to carry out job duties for this position.
- Ability to work long shifts as needed
