Job Description

Salary - $61,600/Annually

Reporting to the Director of Early Childhood Learning, the Center Director/Pre-K Teacher serves in a dual role as both the site administrator and classroom teacher for one or more Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) Early Childhood Learning (ECL) Centers. This position is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and daily operation of the assigned Center(s) while providing direct instruction in a Pre-K classroom.

The Center Director/Pre-K Teacher supervises teachers, aides, and program operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, age-appropriate, standards-based instruction aligned with Nevada Pre-K Standards. This position fosters a safe, inclusive, and responsive learning environment that supports the academic, social-emotional, physical, and developmental growth of all children.

The Center Director/Pre-K Teacher is responsible for ensuring compliance with BGCSNV policies and procedures, Southern Nevada Health District requirements, Nevada Child Care Licensing regulations, and applicable state and federal laws. This position also oversees facility operations and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and licensing-compliant Center environment. The essential job duties for this role include:

Leadership and Operations

  • Provide overall leadership and management of assigned Early Childhood Learning Center(s).
  • Directly supervise teachers, aides, and other assigned staff.
  • Develop staff schedules and coordinate classroom coverage to maintain required staff-to-child ratios and uninterrupted program operations.
  • Monitor daily Center operations to ensure compliance with licensing, health, safety, and organizational requirements.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, mentor, and support the professional development of Center staff.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and maintain performance documentation.
  • Foster a positive, professional, collaborative, and family-centered environment.
  • Participate in Center planning, program development, continuous improvement efforts, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in and oversee daily cleaning, sanitizing, and organizational duties.
  • Conduct routine inspections of classrooms, common areas, outdoor learning environments, and other Center spaces to ensure safety, cleanliness, and licensing compliance.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and operational needs.


Instruction and Learning

  • Provide opportunities for all children to learn in a safe, supportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and academically focused classroom environment.
  • Review, develop, implement, and oversee curriculum aligned with Nevada Pre-K Standards.
  • Develop and implement daily and long-range lesson plans using research-based instructional strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all children, including children with disabilities, English language learners (ELLs), children identified as at-risk, and children demonstrating advanced skills.
  • Supervise and participate in assessment processes to ensure compliance with assessment requirements and guidelines.
  • Analyze child performance and assessment data to inform instruction, interventions, and program improvement efforts.
  • Implement and oversee required reporting systems for Early Childhood Learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate and oversee implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other support plans.
  • Collaborate with families, specialists, service providers, and school district personnel to support child success.
  • Monitor child progress and ensure appropriate interventions and supports are provided.


Compliance and Records Management

  • Maintain compliance with BGCSNV policies and procedures, Nevada Child Care Licensing regulations, Southern Nevada Health District requirements, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Maintain accurate child, staff, program, licensing, safety, and facility records.
  • Ensure all required reports, documentation, and records are accurate, current, and submitted on time.
  • Conduct regular reviews of Center operations, records, and practices to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Promptly report incidents, hazards, and concerns affecting the health, safety, or well-being of children, staff, or visitors.
  • Participate in safety planning, emergency preparedness activities, and facility improvement efforts.
  • Oversee sanitation, maintenance, and safety procedures to ensure compliance with licensing and health requirements.


Family and Community Engagement

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parent concerns, questions, complaints, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct parent conferences and meetings regarding child development, behavior, attendance, support services, and program participation.
  • Communicate child progress, Center information, policies, and program expectations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support family engagement activities, enrollment efforts, retention initiatives, and community outreach.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally with administrators, ECL and BGCSNV staff, families, community partners, and service providers.
  • Promote positive family partnerships that support children's learning, development, and overall well-being.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Assist with BGCSNV events, initiatives, and special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge, And/or Abilities

Required Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have at least 1,000 hours of verifiable administrative experience or have completed coursework in business administration.
  • Must have at least 1,000 hours of verifiable experience in a licensed childcare facility.
  • Must possess one of the following:
    • Nevada Department of Education Early Childhood Teaching License;
    • Nevada Registry Level 5.2 or higher; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE);
    • Bachelor's Degree in any field and participation in a state-approved Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) program in Early Childhood Education;
    • Bachelor's Degree in any field with at least 35 post-secondary credits in Early Childhood Education; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in any field and current enrollment in the TEACH Early Childhood program.
In addition, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 4,000 hours of verifiable experience in a licensed childcare facility.
  • One or more years of supervisory experience in education, early childhood education, or youth development.
  • Current membership in the Nevada Registry.
  • Current Nevada Child Care Center Director qualification.
  • Experience supervising instructional staff and managing educational programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with families, staff, community partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Brightwheel, curriculum management systems, child information systems, and data reporting platforms.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
