The Design Industry Club: Special FX Intern will receive hands-on experience in the world of special effects, makeup, costume design, and creative production for fashion, film, and live events. Participants will explore how artistry, design, and technology come together to create visual storytelling through character transformation, costume enhancement, and scene effects.
Interns will gain exposure to professional design processes, practice creative problem-solving, and collaborate on a culminating Special FX Showcase Project, where they’ll present their final looks or concepts to peers, mentors, and industry professionals.
Key Responsibilities

Participate in all scheduled workshops, labs, and industry sessions focused on Special FX design, makeup artistry, and creative styling.

Learn basic techniques in prosthetics, stage makeup, color theory, texture application, lighting effects, and materials use.

Assist in brainstorming and executing creative concepts for projects such as photo shoots, short films, or themed runway events.

Collaborate with peers on design teams to develop concepts for the Club’s Industry Showcase.

Maintain an organized workspace and properly handle all tools, materials, and equipment.

Follow safety protocols when working with makeup products, adhesives, or design tools.

Participate in professional development sessions focused on career readiness, time management, and communication.

Contribute ideas during group critiques and support fellow interns with feedback and encouragement.

Represent BGCSM with professionalism, creativity, and teamwork.
