What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director of Behavioral Health position at BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTHEASTERN MICHIGAN?
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Executive Director of Behavioral Health leads the development and execution of a system-wide behavioral health strategy at BGCSM. This role ensures delivery of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based services that promote optimal mental health for youth and families. The Executive Director must demonstrate strong supervisory and leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary teams and student clinicians across all Club sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Supervisory
- Provide clinical oversight and coverage for individual, group, and family therapy, psychological testing, and crisis response.
- Supervise Directors of Social Work, Directors of Psychology, and Clinical Training staff.
- Deliver live, on-site clinical supervision and consultation.
- Oversee referral intake and ensure appropriate case assignment and follow-up.
Program Administration
- Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive behavioral health model across BGCSM.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Child Protective Services, and licensing requirements.
- Manage daily operations, regulatory reporting, and clinical documentation standards.
- Develop and manage department budgets, billing systems, and expense tracking.
- Oversee performance metrics and use data for continuous program improvement.
- Coordinate with Club leadership to embed behavioral health into daily programming.
Training & Teaching
- Facilitate onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for clinical interns.
- Lead didactic sessions for students in social work, psychology, and school psychology.
- Co-create curricula and approve site-based trainings for staff and students.
- Deliver staff training in areas such as suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, SEL, and mindfulness.
Research & Evaluation
- Supervise student-led research including data collection, analysis, and publication.
- Prepare reports for funders and lead research dissemination at conferences.
- Design and evaluate research projects; collaborate on multi-site studies within the BGCA network.
Partnerships & External Engagement
- Maintain university and academic partnerships to support clinical placements.
- Represent BGCSM in donor, grant, and community partner meetings.
- Attend professional conferences to share research and support continuing education.
Additional Duties
- Participate in fundraising initiatives and organizational events.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with program departments (e.g., sports, industry clubs).
- Attend weekly executive and departmental meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Program Officer.
