REPORTS TO: Athletics Manager
SALARY: $21.00 - $21.63/hour
HOURS: Part Time .5 fte - 20-25 hours per week, weekday afternoons & Saturdays
LOCATION: ASC - 3875 S 66th Street, Tacoma - with regular travel to multiple Sites within Tacoma Public Schools

POSITION SUMMARY
The Athletics Coordinator is accountable for providing all youth in the community an opportunity to participate in, excel at, and enhance a positive fitness lifestyle through fun and positive interaction in a non-discriminatory, safe environment while learning basic athletic skills and sportsmanship. Reporting to the Athletics Manager, the Athletics Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all league sporting activities for the BGCSPS, providing leadership to members, and supervision to volunteers.
The Athletics Coordinator will assist in the oversight of Beyond the Bell sports practices at Tacoma elementary schools between 3pm – 6pm during the week (M-F) and attend Saturday games. The Athletic Coordinator will assist in oversight of Club practices anywhere between 5-7pm during the week (M-F). The Athletics Coordinator will assist in oversight and mentorship of assigned Beyond the Bell coaches, community & Club volunteer coaches, and assist with administrative duties. This position will be responsible for monitoring communication to families of teams regarding game schedules, team announcements, etc.
The Athletics Coordinator will also assist with organizational clinics, summer intramurals, and outdoor leadership activities. This includes exploring possible partnerships, recruiting volunteers, and creating and leading activities.
FUNCTION/TASKS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Maintain oversight of and provide direction to intern coaches at Beyond the Bell sports practices, and community club coaches at BGCSPS.
- Support intern coaches with organizing practices and understanding practice plans as needed.
- Communicate with families of teams about practices, game schedules, snack schedules, and any other information needed for each season.
- Transport and set up equipment for practices at Tacoma elementary sites.
- Assist Club volunteer coaches with practices for teams , when needed.
- Serve as substitute coach for Club practices anywhere between 5-7pm during the week.
- Coordinate and distribute team photographs as needed.
- Serve as a substitute coach or referee at games, in the event of an absence for all teams.
- Regularly communicate with the BTB Site Leads and Athletics Manager.
- Assist Athletics Manager with implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the Outdoor Leadership Program and all related activities.
- Assisting with transportation of Club members for Outdoor Leadership Program in organizational 12 person passenger vans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 21 years of age; High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to comply with drug-free workplace policy.
- Must be able to work 2pm-7pm time after school Monday through Friday, and Saturday Games (anytime between 8am-6pm).
- Must be able to attend Preseason Coaches Meeting.
- Strong coaching experience/playing or officiating experience desirable.
- Basic knowledge of the assigned sport rules.
- Skills and knowledge of the assigned sport's playing skills.
- Must have a positive attitude to encourage good sportsmanship.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, coaches and players.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Must pass a national criminal background check.
- Driving
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle for business related travel.
- Valid WA State driver’s license with acceptable 3 year MVR - driving record.
- Verification of Tier 2 Insurance standards.
- Willingness to travel within a designated region for community partnership visits and business meetings.
- Ability to successfully complete van driving; drug screen testing, training & requirements.

- Paid Sick Leave - In accordance with Washington Paid Sick Leave, you will accrue one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. You are eligible to use Paid Sick Leave after 30 days of continuous employment.

- Paid Vacation - Accrues per pay period, totaling one week (20 hours) annually.
- Personal All In Day - One (1) personal All In day (4 hours) annually after 3 months of employment.
